Nominator's project description
| Professor Palatnik is a leader in the field of small RNA biology. He was the first to discover a microRNA encoding gene in plants more than 15 years ago and since then has made seminal contributions to elucidate the role of small RNAs in plant development. Professor Palatnik´s research brings together detailed biochemical analyses with genomics and more classical approaches of developmental biology. During his stay in Germany, he now plans to investigate how microRNAs and their target proteins affect stem cell homeostasis in the shoot meristem. |
